Our Future

YTL PowerSeraya is in the future-driven business of electricity. On top of our growing commercial enterprise on Jurong Island, we have a long term plan to build an integrated platform that would offer bundled services and utilities to our customers. This would fulfill their power, steam, water, fuel and even waste treatment needs.

Our transformation into an integrated energy company is underpinned by our efforts to create value and make a difference through well-thought strategies, harnessing assets, technology and people. 

Making A Difference

Transforming our asset base
As part of our development into an Integrated Energy Company, YTL PowerSeraya has relied on existing generation assets and institutional knowledge and experience to optimise efficiency and maximise output. The successful conversion of three units of 250MW steam plant in Stage 1 has paved the way for PowerSeraya's multi-utilities platform. Our Desalination plant makes us self-sufficient in our water needs and also present us with a potential revenue stream and an opportunity to build up our competencies in the area of water technology. Similarly, our move into physical oil trading exemplifies how we diversify our business through our excellent port and storage assets.

Growing complementary businesses
YTL PowerSeraya's move from a single commodity i.e. Power Generation into complementary businesses of Utilities Services, Retail, Energy Markets and Physical Oil Trading is an extension of our Group strategy. While our core business is in electricity generation, the diversification into complementary, non-regulated businesses allows us to expand our product base and offer bundled packages to include electricity, steam and water to the growing base of Jurong Island customers. The set-up of PetroSeraya Pte Ltd to manage our fuel inventory increases our purchasing power up the value chain; further improving our competitiveness.

Responding to the environment
We recognise that our business operations have an impact on the environment and we have in place an environmental policy to launch several key initiatives in the near future. These efforts will be reinforced through the existing ISO 14001 Environmental Management System that we have in place. Over 10 years (from 2000 to 2009), we have reduced the plant’s overall Carbon Dioxide emissions by more than 30%. Our natural gas-fired Co-Generation Combined Cycle Plant established in late 2010 is also expected to reduce our carbon footprint by a further 10%. YTL PowerSeraya will always actively look into improving systems efficiency, optimise the use of fuel and ensure that our emissions level meet the standards set by the National Environment Agency.

Harnessing technology
YTL PowerSeraya has in place an IT Roadmap to help chart the key IT and information systems that would give our business a strategic advantage in the market place. We are building integrated systems aimed at improving our operational efficiency, controls and quality through process design and automation. We will continue to build on existing technologies to expand our capabilities and responsiveness to both customers' and market's needs.

Connecting with customers
Meeting and exceeding customers' expectations will always be a top priority of YTL PowerSeraya and its subsidiaries. Our retail arm Seraya Energy will continue to strengthen its customer relationships and introduce innovative and customised product packages, services and solutions to retain our market share. We will continue to broaden our customer base and tap on strategic alliances to create strong value propositions for customers.

YTL PowerSeraya's success over the past few years can be attributed to its employees who have trusted the guidance and direction of our company leaders and fully committed themselves to the company.
